Research interests

  • Structural analysis of fossilised visual systems
  • Evolution of eyes
  • Vision in trilobites

Ongoing projects

  • Analysis of trilobite compound eyes (sensory structures, µct-scanning, in collaboration with Prof. E.N.K. Clarkson, University of Edinburgh)
  • Internal structures of Jurassic compound eyes (in collaboration with Prof. J. Vannier, University of Lyon)
  • Compound eyes of “Orsten“- Crustaceans (in collaboration with C.O.R.E., University of Ulm, and Prof. V.B. Meyer-Rochow, University of Oulu, Finland)
