Variations In Earth’s Orbital Precession Drove Monsoonal Variability In The Bengal Fan Over The Last 200,000 Years

A new study by Michael E. Weber and colleagues reveals that climate variability in the northern Indian Ocean strongly depended on the amount in incoming solar radiation over the past 200,000 years. The team investigated a sediment core from 3.7 km water depth from the Lower Bengal Fan, retrieved during Expedition 354 of the International Ocean Discovery Program in 2015. The study was published in Global and Planetary Change and featured by Science Trends.
